Summertime Success for Young People at Bryson FutureSkills

Bryson FutureSkills is delighted that 33% of the young people who completed the Young Persons Employment Initiative (YPEI) placement over the Summer with Belfast City Council have progressed onto employment with the Council.  They will be working in the Parks Department of the Council and start their new jobs in the near future.

A third of the participants have progressed onto further training to study Level 1 in Horticulture.  This is a direct result of the young people having the opportunity to work in the Parks Department in the Council where they got first-hand experience of working in a horticultural setting.  They all enjoyed the experience and it has inspired them to pursue further studies with the aim of securing employment in the future.

Bryson are continuing to support the remaining young people in relation to helping them find employment from job search facilities, help with interview techniques and preparing their CVs and job applications.  Director of Bryson FutureSkills, Liam McNeill said,

Our partnership with Belfast City Council has been a great success and we plan to start a new group of young people in the Council during October to build on this early success.  These type of initiatives provide young people with on the job training and create real hope for sustainable job outcomes.  We are working with other public sector employers and Housing Associations in creating this bridge to employment.  We want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the young people and wish them well as they continue on their journey to employment.
