Driving Social Enterprise

Bryson Charitable Group were delighted to attend “Driving Social Enterprise in Mid Ulster,” an event led by Workspace to raise awareness of social enterprise and provide networking opportunities for existing groups.

John McMullan, Bryson CEO was part of the panel, addressing social enterprises and a local authority from across mid Ulster. John commented, “The broadcast media on 12 October were full of stories identifying the mid Ulster gene, but it was good to see from the large turnout that mid Ulster also has a giant social enterprise gene, supporting the growth of so many social enterprises in the area.

It was a privilege to share the platform with three other great social enterprises: Workspace, Draperstown; the Arc Centre, Irvinestown; and WorkWes, Belfast.  The pool of experienced social enterprises provided the audience with a fascinating insight into social enterprise ‘start up’; the importance of community roots and the ability to trade for social purpose, at scale – 'the real giant gene'.  Social enterprise is in good hands in mid Ulster and undoubtedly will grow from strength to strength, playing a full and important role in the re-balancing of the Northern Ireland economy.”
