Bryson meet UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Staff from Bryson Intercultural were delighted to be invited by the Law Centre (NI) to attend a recent meeting of local grass root organisations with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr Filippo Grandi.  Mr Grandi was in Belfast attending the Global Conflict Conference organised by Queens University.

Staff from Bryson, Sebastine Aluko James (Bryson Asylum Support) and Brendan Quail (Bryson Regional Manager for the Vulnerable Syrian Refugee Consortium - VSRC) got the opportunity to brief the High Commissioner on the work of Bryson and the VSR Consortium and highlighted areas of concern for Asylum Seekers and Refugees here in Northern Ireland.

The event provided an opportunity for the UN Commissioner to find out what is happening locally and the challenges faced. Other organisations who presented at the meeting included the Law Centre, South Belfast Roundtable, Extern, Barnados, Red Cross, Homeplus, City of Sanctuary, NI Strategic Migration Partnership, Horn of Africa People's Aid NI and Housing 4 All.

It is hoped more communication and connections with the UN going forward will help shine a light on this vitally important area of work.
