Bryson encourage Mindfulness in the workplace

Twenty four staff from across Bryson took time out of their busy day to take part in a Mindfulness session conducted by Anne Costello.  Anne has many years experience and has worked with a number of Corporate Clients across Northern Ireland supporting staff to deal with stressful and difficult situations.  This was a pilot programme for Bryson and it is hoped that further sessions and other wellbeing and engagement activities will be rolled out across Bryson as part of our Wellbeing Strategy in the coming months.

The two hour sessions provided an overview of what Mindfulness means and how it can help and support both our body and mind. It helps us to think before we react in a situation and provides that space and time to choose our response.  Part of the session included techniques to use in stressful situations.

A key quote around mindfulness is from Viktor Frankl (Psychiatrist and Holocaust Survivor).  Viktor said,

Between stimulus and response there is a space.  In that space is our power to choose our response.  In our response lies our growth and freedom.

Some staff feedback from the pilot sessions to date

Very good and most enjoyable.  Would be good to have the training on a regular basis.

Excellent, really enjoyed the session and will use the techniques going forward.
